German-headquartered specialty chemicals distributor, VMP Chemiekontor acquires Quaan GmbH
VMP Chemiekontor has taken over chemicals company Quaan effective from the beginning of the new year. Quaan is a Hamburg-based, owner-managed commercial business which was founded in 2009 and focuses on the area of CASE (coatings, adhesives, sealants, elastomers).

With the acquisition of Quaan the family business VMP Chemiekontor, whose headquarters are in Siegburg, Germany, is continuing its consistent expansion strategy. The extension of the product portfolio associated with the purchase permits the group of companies to focus on and increase its strength in the CASE market segment with a fourth location in Hamburg, which has now been added to its other sites in Siegburg, Hong Kong and Zurich.
VMP CEO Gerhard Meinel says: “I would like to welcome the staff of Quaan GmbH to the VMP group of companies. Their portfolio and resources make them precisely the right partners at the right time to allow the company to continue to grow.”
Harry Reimers, previously Quaan GmbH's sole shareholder and CEO, will stay on in an advisory capacity and says: “I am delighted that with VMP, I have found a buyer whose values and strategy match Quaan's perfectly. That was very important to me, and I am certain that the takeover will lead to a win–win situation for both companies.”

VMP stands for von Manteuffel and Partners, a family business founded in 2012 with a history that dates back more than 70 years in the world of chemical distribution. The roots of VMP go back to the company Germania Drogerie founded by Alfred Kraemer in 1936. That became Kraemer & Martin GmbH, a company that became successfully headed by Arp von Manteuffel one of Germany's most successful medium-sized chemical distributors. After his death, the family business was sold and incorporated into the Azelis Group. The fourth generation of the von Manteuffel family are now partners in VMP.
