OQEMA Group acquires Danish solvent distributor, Chemark ApS
The OQEMA Group has taken over the Danish chemical distributor Chemark ApS. The company, which focuses on solvents, has been active in the Nordic distribution market for around 20 years and works with some of the largest producers of solvents worldwide. OQEMA believe the acquisition of Chemark perfectly complements their current activities in the paint and coatings, pharmaceuticals, detergents, and HI&I industries.

Peter Overlack, CEO of OQEMA AG, is proud of the Group's growth in northern Europe, and sees this move as a continuation of the Group's European strategy: “Chemark's turnover is not massive in relation to the overall Scandinavian market. What convinces us is the quality of the business, the quality of the management and the location in the greater Copenhagen area, which provides an excellent operating base for expansion into Sweden, Finland and Norway.”
Anders Englund and Peter Nielsen, who have successfully managed Chemark for the last 12 years said: “Our roots are medium-sized and family-run. We are sure that OQEMA can take up this tradition and that we will be spared the mistakes that happen when you sell your company to a corporate group.”
Managing directors of Chemark, Anders Englund and Peter Nielsen, will continue to manage the company moving forward. Chemark's annual turnover is currently around EUR 40 million.
